Great question - We recommend for people entering the highlands from the South through road #208 from main #1 road in Skaftártungu area to visit Holaskjol highland center and acommodation and go to the waterfall Huldufoss. Nearby is Eldgjá with another beautyful waterfall. Sveinstindur is a great mountain peak near Langisjór where you can experience spectacular view over the highlands. Then you go to Landmannalaugar where on the way you can experience great scenes and quite allot when you arrive. There are many beautyful hiking routes and geothermal creek to bathe in.

You have to make arrangement for food and drinks for the time you are traveling in the highlands if the tour does not include food or drinks. There are no shops around and neither are gas stations in case your are driving on your own.
The highlands can be hard to drive in as the roads are rough, with creeks and rivers that need to be crossed and some places where you can get stuck easily if you are not driving the right kind of car. You will need a 4x4 sport SUV at least but a bigger car with 4x4 is recommended.
Contact us and make your plans with us. It is easy to go pass great places and miss out on things if you don+t know about them.
The weather in the highlands can change very quickly from a great sunny day to really windy and rainy day so bring warm clothes and shell for wind and rain proof. Don't forget to bring good hiking boots and extra clothes.
Take your time at the places you want to see. Take a lot of pictures and videos. You will have a lot of places to make a uniq pick nick.
There is a lot to see and experience. For many the experience is almost unreal like your are in life in a painting as the color's of the nature are so vivid and unique.
